About
Welcome to Student Scrooge! Allow me to introduce myself – my name is Richard, and I am currently a twenty-something college student out on the east coast of the United States.
Very little gives me greater satisfaction than getting the most out of my limited resources, whether we are talking about money or otherwise. I love trying to figure out where to keep money, how best to take advantage of loyalty programs, promotions and deals, what the best way is to purchase something, how to live frugally, and more. I get a smile on my face when I feel like I’ve stretched my dollar to the limit.
Does that mean I am stingy? Far from it –rather, I consider myself frugal! There is no point in saving money if you are not going to use it at some point. So I try to find the best way of going about achieving my goals. In this sense, frugality is a mindset – a mindset this is applicable to people in all age groups and income levels.
A quick word about the “Student” in “Student Scrooge”: It is certainly true that I write from the perspective of a college student, if only for the reason that it is currently the situation I find myself in.
This does not mean, however, that what I write about is only applicable to students – most of what I write about will chronicle my own exploration and findings as I learn how to manage and take control of my finances, something to which most people should be able to relate.
To that end, I started this blog with two goals in mind –
• First, to try to share with my friends (and the blogosphere) many of the lessons that I have learned.
• Second, to give myself a platform for my own research and exploration.
This blog is a work in process – so please stick around as I develop my “blogging voice.” I love to hear from my readers, so please feel free to leave a comment on a post or send me an email.
Thanks for stopping by!
Best,
Richard
